Stijn Haanschoten is an experienced litigator and cassation lawyer specializing in complex corporate law disputes. He advises and litigates, both in courts of fact and in cassation, on matters including shareholder disputes, inquiry proceedings, buy-out and withdrawal issues, as well as commercial disputes and arbitrations in a broad sense, often with an international character.
Background
Stijn began his career in 2015 at a boutique law firm in Amsterdam-Zuid. In 2018, he joined Boonk Van Leeuwen Advocaten in Rotterdam, where he mainly acted in commercial and corporate law disputes and cassation proceedings within the maritime sector. He has been affiliated with Yur since 2026.
On April 17, 2025, Stijn obtained his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam for his research entitled “Protection of minority shareholders. On reasonableness and fairness and withdrawal,” published by Wolters Kluwer. In his thesis, he analyzes the legal position of minority shareholders and the possibilities for minority shareholders to effectively enforce an exit.
He is editor of Actuele Rechtspraak Ondernemingspraktijk (ARO) and regularly publishes in legal journals. He also gives webinars and (office) courses and is affiliated with Erasmus University as a thesis supervisor.
