Background
Lawyer Jens Maliepaard successfully completed the Master’s degree in Law in 2005. Jens has been working as a lawyer since 2008. Jens started his career as a lawyer with Houweling en Kars advocaten, which firm he took over after several years of employment. Jens has made a name for himself in several high-profile mass tort cases. For instance, he has been successfully litigating against Dexia bank as the liable party in the share leasing affair for more than 15 years. On behalf of various advocates, Jens litigates against the largest Dutch insurers regarding the usury policy file. Jens successfully defended against the declaration that the largest collective settlement in history, concluded between a large number of interest representatives and Ageas, as legal successor to Fortis Bank, was generally binding, but in which a specific category of shareholders, represented by Jens, was unduly disadvantaged. Jens joined Yur Lawyers in 2020.
